The rusted rear drum brake on my 1966 C10 took me 11 days to free up
Picked up a 1966 Chevy C10 out of a field near Amarillo, and the rear drum brakes were fused solid to the backing plates. I soaked them in PB Blaster for 3 days, tried a torch, tried a 5 pound sledge, nothing moved. Finally a guy at the local NAPA handed me a $20 drum puller and it popped loose in about 10 minutes. Eleven days of my life for a tool that cost less than lunch, what is your worst frozen part story?
My buddy had a front wheel bearing on an old F100 that was so seized he snapped a puller right in half trying to get it off. He messed with that thing for two weekends, heat, soak, cuss, repeat. Ended up borrowing a bigger puller with a slide hammer from his neighbor and it came off in like five minutes. He still talks about it like it was a war he lost. Funny how the right tool makes you feel dumb and smart at the same time.
