Update: my frame jig bolts let go on a '62 Falcon in Dayton
I had a '62 Falcon on the rotisserie in my Dayton shop, and the 3/4 inch jig bolts snapped clean during a test turn last Saturday. Everyone swears by the cheap Grade 5 hardware from the farm store, but mine sheared after maybe 20 rotations, not years of abuse. I swapped to Grade 8 bolts with lock washers and torqued them to 85 ft lbs, and the frame has held rock solid since. Has anyone else had jig bolts fail on them, or am I the only one who skipped the torque specs the first time?
