A guy in payroll at my old insurance gig in Des Moines showed me the 'band code' trick and 4 of us got raises the same month
He told me that if your job title and salary band don't match in the HR system, the raise request goes to a different queue that managers can't close out, so I asked my boss to fix my title first and the money showed up in 11 days instead of the usual 6 months of silence, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has gamed the band system like that.

Man, 11 days versus 6 months is a wild gap, but I gotta ask if this is really some secret hack or just your boss actually doing his job for once. Sounds less like gaming the system and more like the system being held together with duct tape and vibes.
