Client called out my typo in front of their whole team, then my boss doubled down
Sat in a Zoom meeting last Tuesday with a Fortune 500 client when their PM read my slide out loud and laughed at a misspelling on a cost breakdown, $40k contract hanging there. My VP jumped in and said the typo was actually a formatting glitch on their side, which was a total lie but it saved the deal. Has anyone else had leadership throw themselves under the bus for you, or was my boss just weirdly loyal?

A friend of mine in sales had their manager do the SAME thing during a big demo, except it was a whole slide with the wrong client logo on it. The manager blamed a "software update" that supposedly swapped files on everyone's machines. It was a total save, but honestly the client probably knew. Bosses like that are rare, anyone else would've thrown you to the wolves to save their own skin. You owe that VP a coffee or SOMETHING.

Well, that wasn't a total lie, just mostly. The real lie was framing it as a "glitch" when your boss probably knew it was a typo. Still, that's the kind of cover that keeps deals alive, so I'd call it weirdly loyal in the best way.
