Paid $60 for a 'career coaching' call, got told to smile more

The coach in Dallas spent 20 minutes reading my LinkedIn back to me and then suggested I brighten my tone on a 9 AM call. Has anyone else blown cash on these internal 'development' sessions that are just recycled HR slides?

Wait until you see how this same logic shows up everywhere. My boss once told me to "bring more energy" to a Tuesday morning meeting after I stayed up fixing servers all night. It's like people forgot that actual work matters more than how peppy you sound.

Honestly, maybe the tone WAS the problem. Smiling more is free, unlike that $60.
