Shoutout to the security guard at the Chicago office who told me the real reason we all badge in twice
Was in our downtown tower on a Tuesday and noticed everyone badges in at the lobby then badges again at the elevator bank, which seemed pointless. The guard said the second reader is not security at all, it's how the company tracks which floors get foot traffic so they can decide what to lease out next year. Now I wonder how many other "security" things at big offices are really just real estate research.
Man, I always figured those extra badge taps were overkill and just brushed it off. Hearing it's really about lease planning totally flips how I see it.
