Switched from weekly status emails to a shared board, now I actually know what's happening
For two years I ran a 14-person project team at a software firm in Austin and every Friday I'd write a two-page status update that nobody read. Last month I moved everything to a shared kanban board with color-coded lanes and now the PMs in Seattle keep asking me to explain why their blockers are visible. Has anyone else found that the less polished the reporting tool, the more people actually pay attention to it?
