Wait, she really said "the calendar is just a suggestion" about a meeting she scheduled herself?? That's like a chef saying the menu is optional... and then getting mad nobody ordered.
I mean, what kind of message does that send to the whole team? That her time is sacred but everyone else's is just a flex? You were right to ask, and honestly, the fact she brushed you off like that tells you everything you need to know about how she views her staff.
Good on you for already having your exit plan in motion. Nobody should have to decode if a 5 p.m. meeting is real or just a vibe.
