Switched to using a pressure cooker for beans, cut cooking time from 3 hours to 35 minutes
I used to soak pinto beans overnight and boil them on the stove for hours, but after burning a pot last month I caved and got an Instant Pot. Now I just rinse and toss them in with some salt and garlic, no soaking needed. Has anyone else found a game changer for dried beans?

Tried soaking lentils last week and forgot about them for TWO DAYS. They turned into some kind of science experiment that smelled like regret. So yeah, pressure cooker is a lifesaver for me too. I just dump everything in with some cumin and bay leaves and walk away. No more burnt pots or weird science experiments in my kitchen. The Instant Pot basically saved me from myself.

Dried lentils straight in the Instant Pot, no soaking ever. Game changer.

Gotta push back on this one a little. I get the convenience thing, but I think people are too quick to give up on the soaking method. You left them for two days, of course they turned into a mess. That's like leaving a steak out on the counter for a week and blaming the cow. Soaking for 8 to 12 hours is the sweet spot, anything past that and you're asking for trouble. Plus, soaking helps get rid of some of the compounds that make lentils hard to digest for some folks. Maybe give it another try with a timer on your phone next time before you write it off completely.
