Tried dowsing for a water line on my dad's farm in Guthrie, and the rods actually crossed
I was standing in the north pasture near the old windmill when both wires dipped hard over a spot the county map says is solid rock. My dad hired a guy with a $2,000 locator the next week and he found the same line within 3 feet, so now I don't know what to think.
So what makes you think the rods had anything to do with finding that line? The guy with the $2,000 locator found it because he had a $2,000 locator, not because you waved some wire around the week before. Water lines run in straight paths, and if you were standing anywhere near the old windmill, you were probably close to the line anyway just by guessing. The rock thing on the county map doesn't mean much either, maps like that get drawn up fast and miss all kinds of stuff. I'd bet money you could hand those rods to five different people in that same pasture and get five different spots, lol.
