Tried sun-drying laundry in my apartment and got zero mold after 6 weeks

I hung clothes on a rack by my south-facing window instead of using the dryer and my electric bill dropped $18. The trick was pointing a small fan at them on rainy days has anyone else dealt with humidity issues doing this?

Hey have you tried adding a dehumidifier near the drying rack? That's what I do when it's super humid here and it keeps the clothes from getting that musty smell while they dry. Also pointing a fan at the clothes is key, I keep mine on low 24/7 during rainy weeks and it cuts the drying time in half.

Yeah I actually read somewhere that the combo of dehumidifier + fan works way better than either one alone. The dehumidifier pulls moisture out of the air so the fan isnt just blowing damp air around. Makes sense when you think about it. I tried it during that rainy stretch last month and my shirts were dry in like 4 hours instead of overnight.

All due respect to riverh49 but running a dehumidifier AND a fan just to dry some shirts seems like overkill to me. I've been hanging clothes inside for years and a simple fan on low has always been enough, even during the muggy summer months. The dehumidifier is just gonna suck the moisture out of the air in your whole apartment, which might make the place feel dry and uncomfortable for you to breathe in. Save the $18 you saved on the electric bill and skip the extra machine.
