Found Out My Friend's 'Round Up' App Was Charging Us Double All Year

Last month I looked at our shared dinner receipts and saw each charge had a weird 50 cent extra fee. Turns out my buddy Mark had been using one of those bill-split apps that rounds up each person's share to the nearest dollar and keeps the change as a 'service convenience'. We had 14 group meals this year, so that added up to about $68 total. I only caught it because I asked for the detailed statement from the app, he never mentioned the setting. Has anyone else had a hidden fee sneak into their split bill routine?
