The group chat math mistake that made me stop trusting rounded totals
Last Friday at El Mercado in Austin, our table of 7 split a $310 bill and Mark rounded everyone's share to the nearest five to make it clean. I noticed later that his rounding added $14 nobody accounted for, and the waiter got stiffed on tip because we used the rounded amount. Now I use a bill splitter app that tracks cents to the penny, even if it makes me the annoying one at the table. Has anyone else caught a friend quietly padding shares with careless rounding, or am I just paranoid?
