The Venmo request I sent at 2am that finally fixed our group trip fund
We had a cabin weekend up near Lake Arrowhead with 8 people, and for three trips straight the same two friends kept skipping out on the grocery run and the firewood split. Last Sunday I sat down with the actual receipt list, added up every single shared cost across the weekend, and came up with $212 per person. I sent a detailed breakdown request at 2am with line items like 'trail mix $6.50, gas for the Subaru $18, and the parking pass $12' and attached a photo of the receipt pile. By noon the next day, all 8 people had paid, and one of the usual skippers even apologized and said the breakdown made it impossible to argue. Now I do the same thing for every shared meal or rental, and it's cut our collection time from two weeks down to about 12 hours. Has anyone else tried itemizing with a photo attachment, or do you just stick to the flat amount and eat the loss?
