Appreciation post: That 3 week stretch where I watched The Wire from start to finish
I finally got around to The Wire last month. It took me 3 weeks and 5 seasons. The before and after for me is how the show sets up characters - in episode 1 you think you know who people are, but by season 3 everyone flips (like McNulty or Stringer Bell). Has anyone else had a show totally change your view on character writing like that?

Binge watched The Wire last month too. By season 3 I was yelling at my TV like "wait who's side is McNulty even on now?" Stringer Bell going from street boss to business class still messes with my head. That show ruined me for other cop shows forever.

You ever finish a show and feel like you gotta sit in silence for a bit before starting anything else? That was me with The Wire, I couldn't even look at another cop show for like two weeks after. I just rewatched the whole thing over a few weekends and honestly, taking notes on a notepad helped me keep track of all the different players and who was playing who.

I read somewhere the show was originally meant to be a book series...
