Binged a climate thriller and now I'm calling out lazy writing

I just finished watching 'Years and Years' in one sitting. It shows a near-future ruined by climate change. But the characters are so focused on drama that the real issues get lost. Compare it to 'The Day After Tomorrow,' which at least makes you feel the urgency. Shows like this waste a chance to teach us something. If you want a binge that matters, skip the flashy stuff and watch documentaries instead.

Seriously! I get SO mad when climate stories get buried under family fights. Been there after watching 'Carbon Dreams' last month. My fix is to pair a drama episode with a youtube explainer on the same issue. It sticks better when you see both sides. Otherwise you just remember the shouting and forget the science. That lazy writing wastes a real chance to wake people up.

Totally get where you're coming from. I do the same thing where I plan this big, smart documentary binge to learn something, and then I just end up watching a drama about it instead. My watchlist is full of serious climate docs I swear I'll get to, but then I click on another show where people argue in a fancy house while the world burns outside. I guess I'm part of the problem.

Does the drama let you feel like you're learning without the heavy lift, or is it just easier to zone out?

Remember my buddy who swore he learned about water rights from that ranch drama? He tried to explain it at a party and just described a love triangle.
