Binged all 13 seasons of Grey's Anatomy in 6 months and burned out hard

I started Grey's Anatomy back in February as background noise, but by March I was hooked and watching 5 episodes a night. Hit season 9 and completely lost steam when a certain character left the show. Has anyone else hit a wall with a really long series and had to take a break before finishing?

Oh come on, you didn't burn out on Grey's Anatomy. You burned out on watching 5 episodes a night for months. That show has like 400 episodes, nobody can binge that much of anything without getting sick of it. Season 9 is actually around when the show starts changing a lot, so it makes sense you hit a wall there. I took a solid two month break after season 10 and came back feeling way better about it. Just pace yourself, watch 2 or 3 episodes a week instead of trying to finish the whole thing in one go.

Nah, if the show was good you wouldn't need a break.

Season 9 is brutal for that exact reason (I hit the same wall when a certain plane crash survivor left). Six months of binging 400 episodes is a recipe for burnout no matter how good the show is. My trick is to pick up a completely different genre show for a week or two, like a comedy or a reality competition, just to reset my brain before going back. You could also try watching one or two episodes a night instead of whole seasons, makes it feel less like a chore and more like a treat. I took a three week break after season 10 and came back actually excited to see where the hospital drama went next. You don't gotta finish it all at once, just let it simmer for a bit and see if you feel like jumping back in later.
