I finally dug out my old binder of recorded VHS tapes from the attic

Seeing my handwriting on labels for shows like 'X-Files' and 'Buffy' brought back memories. We used to plan our weeks around when episodes aired and tape them if we missed one. Now my kids just ask Alexa to play any show instantly, no waiting. It's wild how binging went from a stack of tapes to a voice command.

Why mourn over lost VHS hassle anyway?

Total convenience" is fine until the internet goes out, then you're just craig.alex missing his golf. Keep a hard copy of the stuff you really care about.

I used to roll my eyes at people being sentimental over old tech. But finding those tapes, the planning and effort they show, actually meant something. That shared weekly wait created a different kind of connection to the shows we loved.

Watching my dad tape over my cartoons with golf taught me not to get too attached to TV. Sure, waiting for shows built hype, but it was mostly just annoying when you missed it. Having every episode ready now is just plain better, not some big cultural loss. We remember the fun parts and forget the hassle. Is trading a little hassle for total convenience really that deep?
