I just lost a whole weekend to a show that went nowhere

I saw a trailer for this new sci-fi show and it looked amazing, so I decided to give it a shot. I spent all of Saturday and Sunday, like 12 hours total, watching the first season. The setup was cool, but by the final episode, nothing was answered. It just ended on a huge cliffhanger with no real plot movement. I looked it up and found out it got canceled after one season. I feel like I wasted all that time for a story that will never finish. It's so frustrating when a show hooks you and then leaves you hanging. Has anyone else been burned by a show that got axed too soon? What did you watch that made you feel like that?

Ever check if a show got renewed before you start binging? I learned that the hard way after a few letdowns. Now I always google "show name season 2 confirmed" right after the first episode. It saves me from getting invested in a story that just stops.

You said it "hooked you," so the time wasn't wasted. That's the whole point of a cliffhanger, to leave you wanting more.

Totally, @riverdavis, that hook is a real chemical thing I read about.

Read a piece once about how cliffhangers mess with your brain chemistry.
