Okay, I just finished my 50th rewatch of The Office and I feel like I'm the weird one.

I mean, everyone says it's the ultimate comfort show, but hitting that number made me realize I don't actually laugh much anymore, I just like having it on in the background. It's more about the familiar noise than the jokes at this point. Does anyone else have a show they've watched a ton but don't really pay attention to?

You're missing the point if you're not laughing, it's still a comedy.

It's the same reason people listen to old albums they know by heart. The comfort isn't in surprise, it's in the predictable rhythm. The show just becomes part of your home's sound.

I read somewhere that's called "ambient TV" and it's pretty common.
