Pro tip: check the episode count before you start a new show on a Sunday night.
I got into this Korean drama on Netflix called 'Reply 1988' last weekend, thinking it was a normal 16 episode series. I looked it up after the third episode and saw it has 20 episodes, each over 90 minutes long. Has anyone else accidentally committed to a show way longer than they expected?

Reply 1988 is a masterpiece but that runtime is a serious commitment. Did you end up finishing it anyway, or did the length make you drop it? I've done the same thing with some Chinese dramas that have like 50 episodes. You get invested before you even know what you signed up for.

The payoff was worth every single long episode.

My attention span lost that fight.

...and that's exactly why I tell people to always check the runtime before hitting play. I did the same thing with a Chinese drama called 'The Untamed' - thought it was 20 episodes, turns out it was 50. I was three weeks in before I realized I'd committed to a full-time job. @riverh49 is right that the payoff can be worth it, but man, my social life took a hit. I ended up finishing Reply 1988 anyway, but only because I kept telling myself "just one more episode" at 2 AM. Now I have trust issues with Netflix thumbnails.
