Shoutout to that show I almost skipped because of the trailer

I almost passed on 'The Leftovers' because the first trailer made it look like some dark, confusing mess. But my buddy kept bugging me to give it three episodes, so I caved during a slow week last February. By episode four, I was hooked on how it handles grief and weirdness without trying to explain everything. The soundtrack and acting just clicked for me out of nowhere. Anyone else have a show that flopped in previews but turned out amazing?

That show handling grief and weirdness without trying to explain everything really hits home for me. I read a review once that said the best shows leave you with more questions than answers, and that's exactly why The Leftovers works so well. It trusts you to sit with the discomfort instead of wrapping it up in a neat bow.

Double down on that trust thing... it's pretty rare for a show to let you just sit there with all that emptiness and not try to fill the silence with some tidy explanation. The way characters just break down or do something completely random without a big speech about why... feels way more real than most TV drama. Leaves you thinking about it for days after, which is exactly what grief is like anyway.

Makes you realize most shows just don't trust their audience to think.
