Took me 3 rewatches to realize I was skipping the opening credits

I always thought the cold open was the only setup you needed for an episode. Then I caught The Leftovers theme song on my third watch and realized I'd been missing half the emotional weight the whole time. Anyone else have a show where the credits actually matter?

That GoT map intro drove me crazy until I actually paid attention and then everything clicked.

That story about your buddy hits close to home... I had the exact same thing happen with a friend who skipped the intro for like three seasons. When I finally made him watch it he was mind blown about why Winterfell was so far from King's Landing and why the Wall mattered so much geographically. He kept saying "I thought they just walked everywhere fast" and we all laughed at him for a solid hour. The map intro is basically required viewing for that show honestly, it explains so much about travel times and why certain characters take forever to meet up.

Had a buddy who swore Game of Thrones was just okay until someone told him to actually watch the intro. He'd been skipping it every single time, so he had no idea where anything was on the map. When he finally watched it, he said whole plot points suddenly made sense, like why certain armies took so long to get places. He still brings it up years later like it was some big revelation.
