Why does nobody mention how many shows get canceled after just one season
I was poking around a TV stats page last night and saw that close to 1 in 3 new shows gets axed before a second season even airs. I'd just finished a 10 episode mystery on Netflix, got all attached to the characters, and then found out it got dropped in 2022 after 4 months. Now I check if a show has more than one season before I let myself get hooked. It's saved me from a few heartbreaks, but does anyone else read the season count first, or do you just dive in and risk it?
Six months ago I would've said just dive in, but then I got burned by a show called The Society that ended on a huge cliffhanger and never came back. Now I do the same thing you do and peek at the season count first, since 1 in 3 odds are way too high to ignore. It kills a little of the fun, but not as much as getting attached to a story that never gets an ending.
