Hot take: My farrier in Amarillo said my forge is running too hot and I think he's right
I was complaining to my farrier Dave last week about burning the tips off my tongs and he asked what color my steel was when I pulled it out. I said orange-yellow and he just laughed and said I was cooking everything at like 2400 degrees when I should be closer to 2000 for most of what I do. I've been blaming my coal for 6 months and it was me the whole time. Anyone else had somebody from a totally different trade point out something obvious about their setup?
