Finally came around on vinyl after hearing that 1980 press of Rumours
I always argued digital was cleaner and vinyl was just hipster hype. Then my buddy brought over his original 1980 pressing of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and hooked it to his old Technics deck. The low end had this warmth and punch I never got from Spotify, and I could hear the room reverb like the band was right there. Found out later from a YouTube channel called Vinyl Rewind that those early pressings used different mastering EQ. I still think digital has its place, but has anyone else flipped their opinion after one specific record?

Have you tried any other vinyl pressings since that one? I used to be on the digital-only train myself, but my uncle's old copy of Dark Side of the Moon changed my mind totally. The bass just hits different and it made me realize analog has its own kind of magic that streaming can't quite capture.

Grabbed a copy of that same 1980 Rumours pressing after hearing it at my buddy's place and man, you're right about that low end. The bass has this roundness to it, almost like you can feel the air moving in the room where they recorded it. Tried my dad's old copy of Zeppelin IV last week and the needle drop on "When the Levee Breaks" had that drum sound filling up the whole space, totally different from the compressed version I'm used to. I think there's something to those early pressings that modern remasters just can't replicate, even on a good setup.
