Got told my game saves were a mess by a buddy who used to work at Blockbuster

He pointed out that I had 14 separate save files for Final Fantasy VII spread across three memory cards with no labels, so I spent last weekend organizing them by date and deleting the pointless ones. Has anyone else had an old-school gaming habit that someone just out of nowhere called you out on?

Yeah "you know you only need one right?" hit me hard too. Honestly, what I do now is just keep one save file per playthrough and maybe one backup before long boss fights. Saves so much headache later when you're trying to figure out which random file is the one you actually want to load.

My buddy did the same thing to me with my Metal Gear Solid saves. I had like 8 files for the Psycho Mantis fight because I kept dying and wanted to save before each attempt. He just looked at me and said "you know you only need one right?" I felt so dumb. It's funny how we get attached to these random save files like they are little trophies. What's the weirdest save you ever held onto for too long?

Kept a save file from the original Fallout 2 for about three years where my character was stuck in a infinite loop of dying from radiation poisoning about two seconds after loading. Never actually deleted it because part of me thought maybe one day I'd figure out how to save that guy. Just sat there in my save folder, a monument to my own bad decisions in the wastes.
