Hit 40 year old video games last weekend and it messed with my head

I was sorting through my dad's old stuff in his garage and found a box of Atari 2600 cartridges. I counted them out of curiosity, 40 games in total, all from the early 80s. It hit me that these things are literally older than most of the people working at my shop. I remember playing Pitfall and River Raid on a tiny CRT TV in my bedroom when I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. The graphics are so blocky now but back then they felt like actual magic. My nephew saw me holding one and asked if it was a movie case. Has anyone else dug up old games and felt weird about how much time has passed since they were new?

Why do you care about old junk that can't even run modern games?

Old junk that can't even run modern games" - yeah I get why you'd see it that way. But honestly I was the same until my brother gave me his old PS2 and I started playing stuff like Shadow of the Colossus and Silent Hill 2. Those games still hold up story wise and gameplay wise even if the graphics are rough. Sometimes it's nice to go back to a time when games weren't all about 4K textures and 120fps, you know? I actually play my retro stuff more than my PS5 these days because it's just simpler fun.
