My brother bet me $50 I couldn't beat Mega Man 2 without dying, and the week I spent on it taught me more than any modern game
Last week my brother pulled out our old NES and bet me $50 I couldn't finish Mega Man 2 without losing a single life, so I took the deal thinking it would take an hour. It took me 6 days of playing after work, and by day 3 I had memorized the exact jump timing in the Quick Man stage and could hear the music in my sleep. Do modern games with all their checkpoints and difficulty settings even give you that same feeling of actually earning a win, or did we just have more free time back then?
