My buddy in Austin roasted my DVD shelf for having 400 discs and zero order, so I tried his weird system
Last month my friend Marcus came over to watch The Thing on DVD, and he just stared at my shelf for a minute before asking how I find anything. I had about 400 discs up there, no order at all, just whatever fit where. He said something like, how do you live like this, and honestly I had no answer. So he pulled everything off the shelf and we sorted it, but not alphabetically like you would think. He had me go by decade first, so all the 70s stuff together, then 80s, then 90s, and inside each decade just whatever felt right. Took us almost 4 hours and two pizzas, and I complained the whole time. But now I can actually grab a movie in like 10 seconds, and weirdly I watch more of my old stuff now since I can see it all. Has anyone else tried sorting their collection by era instead of title? I feel like I am the last person to figure this out.
