My buddy laughed when I said old action movies were just explosions and one-liners
He made me watch Die Hard with him last weekend and pointed out how John McClane actually bleeds, gets tired, and makes mistakes. That gritty feeling hits way different than the polished superhero fights nowadays. Has anyone else had a friend totally flip your opinion on a classic?

Your buddy pulling the "actually it's a masterpiece" card sounds like every friend who corners you with a movie they watched 47 times in college. Die Hard tricked me too, all that grunting and bleeding makes you forget he's basically wearing a white tank top through an entire building of terrorists. Next thing you know, you're defending Commando as serious cinema because Arnold carries a tree branch like a weapon. Your buddy got you, didn't he?

92% of Die Hard is just McClane crawling through vents or bleeding on his feet. That kind of raw physicality makes the hero feel real, not like some invincible action figure. Makes you wonder how many other things we sleep on just because they're old or different.
