My old turntable finally died on me mid-record
I was spinning my dad's old copy of Dark Side of the Moon last Tuesday and the belt just snapped, no warning. Tried to fix it with a rubber band from the kitchen drawer, but that lasted about 10 seconds before slipping off. Anyone found a good repair shop for vintage gear or should I just bite the bullet and replace it?

Vinyl Revival did my uncle's Pioneer in two days, solid work.

Funny enough I used to think those old belt turntables weren't worth fixing at all. But hearing that Vinyl Revival got a Pioneer sorted in just two days kind of changes my mind. Maybe it makes more sense than I thought to just pay someone who knows what they're doing?

Man that stinks, I've heard that rubber band trick never works for long. I was reading a forum the other day where a guy fixed his old turntable belt with a piece of nylon string from a sewing kit, which sounded wild but apparently held up okay for a while. For a real fix, there's a shop called Vinyl Revival on Elm Street that people recommend for vintage gear, they do belt swaps for like 30 bucks. Might be worth checking them out before you buy a whole new player.
