Pac-Man score trick I blew off for years actually works on my arcade machine
I always thought people saying you could trap ghosts at the sides in the original Pac-Man were full of it. Tried it on my 1982 Ms. Pac-Man machine last weekend after watching a YouTube breakdown. You wait near the energizer, let the ghost get close, then cut to the edge and they just pile up. Got 12,000 extra points on my second attempt before I messed up. Has anyone else had luck with this or am I crazy?

You wait near the energizer, let the ghost get close, then cut to the edge - sounds like you're running a ghost daycare center more than playing a game. That trick is basically the Pac-Man version of a trust fall where nobody catches you. I'm guessing your machine doesn't have a "ghost jail" setting for you to toggle on and off. If I tried that on my machine I'd probably end up with three ghosts stuck in my couch cushions.

People are really out here treating Pac-Man like a competitive sport. It's a 40 year old arcade game, not rocket science. Step left, step right, eat the dots, whatever.

Tbh you gotta time it different on each machine since the ghost speed varies. On my cab I wait until the ghost is exactly two tiles away from the intersection then cut hard to the edge. If you do it too early they just change direction and corner you anyway. I've eaten so many ghosts doing this trick it's basically free points once you get the rhythm down. Just make sure you don't have a blue ghost following right behind the first one or you'll get sandwiched.
