That 1986 King Crimson show I saw last week made every modern prog band feel like background noise
I dug up a bootleg recording of their 1986 tour stop in Chicago and compared it side by side with a full concert video from a band I saw live in 2023. The old stuff had this raw, nervous energy where every note felt like a dare, while the modern set was so polished it sounded like they were playing for a shampoo commercial. Does anyone else think albums from the 70s and 80s just hit harder because the musicians were actually scared of being replaced, or is this just my nostalgia goggles getting thicker?
