Can we talk about whether teaching new players the rules matters more than letting them have fun?
Honestly, last month at my local game night I let a buddy skip half the rules for Ticket to Ride just so he wouldn't get frustrated. He had a blast but later another guy said I set him up wrong for future games. Tbh, I'm torn between making sure they learn the real game and just keeping everyone happy. Which side do you lean toward when you have a newbie at the table?

I let my cousin skip half the rules in Catan so he wouldn't rage quit, and now he brings up house rules at every single game night like they're official. It's a mess but at least he still shows up.

@the_wendy my buddy Mike let his brother ignore the robber rule once too.

Man, @john_fisher that story hits close to home, house rules just multiply every time.
