Had the worst game night of my life last Saturday

Last Saturday I set up a big board game night for 8 people. I picked Terraforming Mars because everyone said they wanted a long game. But two people showed up 45 minutes late, someone spilled soda all over the player mats, and one guy got super competitive and started arguing about the rules. The kicker was when another player realized they left their reading glasses at home and couldn't read any of the cards. We finally called it quits after 3 hours with only 4 generations completed. Has anyone else had a game night completely fall apart like that?

Hold on, that sounds like a solid game night to me. Three hours of Terraforming Mars with some drama? That's the good stuff. The late arrivals just add to the lore, the soda spill is a rite of passage for any serious tabletop group. And the guy arguing rules? That's passion. Keeps everyone honest. Reading glasses thing is unfortunate but that's on the player, not the host. Nobody crashed their car or started a real fight. Sounds like a win in my book.

You know what, you actually might be onto me with that "adds to the lore" bit. I used to hate when game nights got messy but you're making me see the whole thing in a different light.

One time at my buddy's place we had a dude show up with a whole different game in his bag by accident and just rolled with it anyway, became the whole night's joke. @carter.joseph would've loved that chaos, lol.
