Hot take: I started using a $2 kitchen timer for my game nights and it fixed everything

We used to have 5 minute turns stretch into 20, but now everyone knows when their time is up. Anyone else have a cheap trick that saved their group?

So you just set it for each person's turn? I've tried a timer before but people argued about when to start it. Do you start it as soon as their turn begins, or after they finish reading the card? That detail always trips us up.

Man, that timer start debate is the real game killer. Our group had the same fight over when the clock starts in Ticket to Ride. Do you start it when someone says "my turn," or only after they stop staring at the board? We made a dumb house rule that you tap the timer when you physically touch your train cards. It sounds silly, but it stopped the arguing.

What timer rule did you end up using, @roberts.leo?
