I finally tried a legacy board game after my group said it was just a gimmick

My friends in Chicago kept pushing me to play Pandemic Legacy Season 1, but I thought the idea of changing the game forever was dumb. We played the first two months last weekend, and when we had to put a sticker on the board after a loss, it actually felt like our story. Now I'm hooked on seeing how our choices change things. Has anyone else had a game type they were wrong about?

My buddy was the same way with deck-building games... thought they were just for hardcore card players. I finally got him to try Star Realms, and he spent the whole first game complaining about the rules. By the third round, he was totally into it, trying to build these crazy combos. Now he won't shut up about finding new ones to play.

Totally, @robertcarr. I felt the same way about worker placement games.
