My buddy told me to never buy a game just for the minis

He said it after I almost bought 'Kingdom Death: Monster' for the figures alone. I ignored him and got 'Rising Sun' instead, thinking the clan minis would make it great. Played it twice in six months and the rules felt like a chore each time. Now it sits on my shelf while I play my simpler games way more. Anyone else get burned by a cool looking game that just wasn't fun to actually play?

Got burned on Blood Rage for the same reason. Ever notice how the coolest looking boxes are sometimes the worst at game night?

Totally feel that. My shelf has a few gorgeous boxes that just collect dust now. Remember when everyone was hyping up that one space game with the insane miniatures? Played it twice and the rules were a total mess. Sometimes the art department carries the whole team.
