My custom 3D printed Catan robber snapped during a heated game last night
We were in the middle of a tense wheat monopoly play when I went to move the little guy... and his arm just broke off. It was this cool painted figure I spent like $15 on filament for. I had to use a bottle cap as a replacement robber for the rest of the game, which honestly killed the vibe. Has anyone else had a prized game piece totally fail on them mid-session?

Honestly the worst part is when the replacement piece just doesn't feel right... like your bottle cap. It totally breaks the immersion, especially in a game where the robber is such a key piece of the drama. Makes you realize how much those little physical pieces actually matter to the game's mood.

Totally get that! We used a little painted rock for our robber and it actually made the game more fun.

Wait, but doesn't the broken piece add its own story? I mean, that bottle cap robber is now a legend from that specific game. @wendy820 says it breaks the mood, but maybe it just changes it. My group's thief is a weird plastic dinosaur, and we all groan-laugh when it shows up. It's less about the perfect piece and more about the memories you make with whatever's on the board. The vibe isn't killed, it's just different.
