Showerthought: a guy at my FLGS in Dayton told me he stopped buying games with minis, and it made me look at my shelf
I was killing time at the shop on Smithville Rd last Saturday and got to talking to a guy while we both dug through the dinged box bin. He said he sold off 40 some games with minis because "the paint queue was a to do list I could never finish" and it hit me weird. I got home and counted 11 unopened mini heavy boxes on my own shelf, some from 2 Christmases back. I'm not saying minis are bad, but maybe I've been buying the hobby of painting instead of the hobby of playing. Has anyone else done a real count of what's still in shrink at their place?
This made me look at my own closet, and it's the same deal with stuff I never even opened. Seems like we all buy the idea of something and not the thing itself, like gym memberships in January. Buying the plan feels good for a minute, but the doing part never really starts.
