That Kickstarter game that cost me $120 and still sits in shrink wrap

I backed this huge board game during the pandemic. It was supposed to be the next big thing, like 4 pounds of miniatures and a rulebook the size of a phone book. After two years of delays it finally showed up, but by then my group had scattered to different states. I still haven't punched out the tokens. Anybody else got a closet full of these shelf queens?

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head! I've got the exact same problem with a game called "Mythic Dungeon Crawler" or something like that. Paid $150 during the hype train, and it's still sitting in my garage under a stack of old mail. The shrink wrap is practically a museum piece at this point. I keep telling myself I'll bust it out for a long weekend, but then life happens and I just end up playing the same old card games with my buddies. It's like a promise I made to my past self that I'm too tired to keep. At least we're not alone in this, right?

My buddy Tom bought a copy of this massive war game called "Operation Overlord" back in 2018. It was like $200 with all the expansions and he was so hyped about it. We made plans to play it on a Saturday, he even cleared his whole calendar. Saturday came and he realized the rulebook was like 80 pages long. He just put the box in his closet and never looked at it again. Last I heard his wife used it as a doorstop for the garage.

I still haven't punched out the tokens" - that line got me. Is it really that deep though? Like, you paid $120 for a box of plastic and cardboard, not a lifetime subscription. If you haven't opened it by now, maybe you just don't actually want to play it. I've got a couple dusty boxes myself but I figure if I ever get bored enough on a rainy Sunday, they'll be there waiting.
