The time I insisted on playing the full 4-hour version of Twilight Imperium with my casual game group
We were at my friend Mike's place in Columbus last month, and I pushed hard to start a full game at 8 PM. By midnight, two people were asleep on the couch and we hadn't even finished the second round. I had to admit my mistake and pack it up. Anyone have tips for introducing heavy games without causing a mutiny?

Honestly don't see it as a mistake. Some groups just need the right setup. Next time try a weekend afternoon start with everyone knowing it's a long haul. Bring good snacks and take breaks. The game's a beast but finishing it with friends who get into it is worth the fight.

Oh man, that's so true. A buddy of mine tried to start a game at like 9 PM after a big dinner, total disaster, everyone was asleep by round two. He took advice like yours, @the_hayden, and switched to a lazy Sunday with pizza planned for halfway through. Totally different vibe, they actually finished it.

My cousin's group started at 2 PM and still had to finish the last two rounds the next day.
