Update: Found my old board game meetup photos from the early 2000s

We used to cram into someone's living room with just a few classic games. Now, our group has a dedicated space with shelves full of Kickstarter games. Back then, rules were passed around on printed paper, no YouTube tutorials. It's wild how much the hobby has grown, but those small gatherings were super fun. Just felt like reminiscing with you all.

I still have my worn-out copy of Catan from 2002, and we played it just fine back then. I mean, sure, there are more games now, but idk if having a dedicated space or Kickstarter games makes it that much better. Maybe it's just me, but the fun came from hanging out, not from how fancy the rules were. Those printed papers got the job done, and we laughed a lot. Now it feels like people focus too much on the stuff and not the actual playing. It's not that serious, you know?

Isn't it funny how we used to just make it work? Like @tessa_morgan said, it's not that serious, but now it feels like the fancy stuff gets in the way of just playing a game. I miss when the biggest worry was a coffee stain on the rule sheet.

Totally get that. Rules got messy on paper, but man, those were good times.

Right, it's not that serious and yet people overthink it so hard.
