Vent: My Gloomhaven campaign setup took three hours last night
Forgot to sort the monster decks after the last session. Took forever to figure out why the attack modifiers were wrong. Anyone else have a simple step that derails your whole game night?

Oh man, that's the worst. For me it's always forgetting to level up my character sheet from the last game. I'll get halfway through a scenario before realizing my health and cards are all wrong for my new level, and then we have to pause everything to fix it. It completely kills the momentum. You'd think after a dozen sessions I'd remember to do it right away.

Leveling up between sessions is the one task I always put off until the last possible minute! My group has started calling it "character sheet archaeology" because we're digging through old notes trying to remember what we earned. The worst is when you add the wrong health bonus and suddenly your tank can't take a hit. You'd think gaining experience would make us better at this, but nope!

Ever try leveling up right after the session ends? I do it while everything's fresh, takes five minutes. Sean_green44's archaeology method sounds like extra work to me. I'd rather fix a mistake once than stop the game later.

My group tried the instant level up thing for a whole campaign and it was a mess. Rushing it means you miss cool feat combos or forget to add your new skill points. Taking a few days between sessions lets you actually think about your build. That five minutes after the game is when I'm still buzzing from the fight, not making smart choices. I'd rather have a short pause next game to fix one thing than realize I built my character wrong for the next three months.
