Heard a foreman say pipe welders aren't real boilermakers at the union hall yesterday

Been thinking about that all day. I do both pipe and plate work and honestly the guy was just being old school. But it got me wondering how many of us actually cross over between the two. Anyone else run into this attitude on a job site or is it just our local 374?

Old timers love drawing lines in the sand, seems like a pretty small hill to die on to me.

They act like the old way was the only way, even when the game's already changed around them.

I mean, sometimes the old way has proven stuff that works. Maybe it's not about dying on a hill but about not wanting to throw out good tools just because there's newer ones.
