Heard a old timer say something that stuck with me today
Was on a job in Gary, Indiana this morning, grinding down some welds on a feed hopper. This retired guy, probably 70, was watching me work and said 'son, you're fighting the metal, not working it.' Took me a sec to figure out what he meant, then I realized I was pushing way too hard on the grinder. Loosened my grip, let the tool do the work, and finished the pass in half the time. Been doing this 8 years and still pick up stuff like that from random overheard comments. Anyone else get a tip like that that changed how they do something simple? And what's the best advice you've caught from a guy just walking by?

My 12 years in the trade says the opposite, sometimes you gotta lean into the tool to get through the tough stuff. That old timer’s advice sounds nice, but it doesn't work on every job.
