Just had a 30-year-old boiler tube crack on me mid-shift
I was working a retrofit at a paper mill in Oregon last Wednesday when this old tube let go. Sprayed steam everywhere before I could get the isolation valve shut. Has anyone else had to deal with vintage boiler components failing without warning?

Whoa, that's rough man! My buddy had a similar thing happen at a chemical plant where an old cast iron valve just snapped clean off after years of running fine. He said the noise alone was enough to make you jump out of your skin, and then you gotta deal with all the cleanup and the paperwork.

Oh my goodness, that must have been terrifying for your buddy. It's funny how the stuff that's been working fine for years can suddenly go bad in the worst way.

Yeah, the paperwork is probably the worst part honestly.
