Missed a weld joint by 3/8 inch on a job in Gary last month
I was laying down a root pass on a 6-inch pipe and didn't notice the fitter had a gap on the backside. Had to grind it out and redo the whole thing which added 2 hours to the shift. Anyone else had a fitter's sloppy setup cost them time?

Fitters blame welders for everything" is rich coming from a guy who probably doesn't even check his own gaps. If you're not double-checking the fit before you strike an arc, that's on you, not the fitter.
