My old foreman in Gary told me to quit chasing tube leaks with the torch and I fought him on it
Last month I was fighting a pinhole in a superheater tube on a 600 megawatt unit and doing what I always do, chasing it down with the torch and rewelding. My old foreman Ray came by, watched me for ten minutes, and said "you're just putting a bandaid on a broken leg, cut the section out." I told him we didn't have time for that and he laughed and walked off. Two days later the same tube blew out 8 inches up from my repair and I spent 14 hours fixing what I should've done right the first time. Anybody else had a mentor call it before you could see it yourself?
